Isn’t it so frustrating when an earthquake happens right in the middle of auctioning off human organs in a dodgy hotel? That’s exactly what happens in the South Korean dystopian thriller series, Bargain, which will be landing on Paramount+ this October.

Check out the trailer here…
<span data-mce-type=”bookmark” style=”display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;” class=”mce_SELRES_start”>&#65279;</span>

In Bargain, men are lured to a remote hotel under the guise of sexual encounters only to be caught in a trafficking ring where their organs are auctioned off to the highest bidder. After a catastrophic earthquake, the victims, traffickers and buyers all are trapped inside the crumbling building. Cut off from the outside world, they must fight to survive the aftermath at any cost.

The series stars Jin Sun-kyu (Extreme Job), Jun Jong-seo (Money Heist: Korea) and Chang Ryul (My Name) and is an adaptation of director Lee Chung-hyun’s award-winning short film of the same name that was released in 2015.

Director and writer Jeon Woo-sung, who was part of the production team of the original short film, picked up the story and developed it into a six-part series. The series is co-written by Choi Byeong-yun and Kwak Jae-min and executive produced by showrunner and creator Byun Seungmin and Bang Jin Ho.

Bargain was also awarded the Critics’ Choice Award at Seriencamp Festival and won Best Screenplay at Canneseries Festival earlier this year. It is an official 2023 Toronto International Film Festival selection, where it will have its North American premiere on 9 September.

All six episodes of Bargain will premiere on Thursday, 5 October on Paramount+ in the U.S, the UK, Canada, Australia, Latin America, Brazil, France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

While action fans are eager for John Wick: Chapter 4, another deadly assassin is invading the UK later this month! The Killer (not to be confused with John Woo’s Hong Kong classic) is the latest South Korean action-thriller in the grand tradition of films such as The Man From Nowhere, The Villainess and recent Netflix hit, Carter.
The film reunites The Swordsman star Jang Hyuk and director Choi Jae-hoon and, whereas that film featured elegant but brutal traditional swordplay, this modern guns and gangsters tale guarantees that bullets will fly!

Take a look at this exclusive clip, one of the film’s many visceral action scenes.

<span data-mce-type=”bookmark” style=”display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;” class=”mce_SELRES_start”>&#65279;</span>

Ui-gang (Jang Hyuk) is a legendary hitman who has decided to retire from the business and pursue a legitimate career. When his wife takes a trip, she issues a request, for Ui-gang to look after her travel companion’s 17-year old daughter, Yoon-ji (K-pop star Lee Seo-young aka Anne from GWSN). Ui-gang reluctantly agrees, but when the girl with a wild streak falls afoul of gangsters, Yoon-ji finds herself kidnapped and in a situation more dangerous than she ever imagined. However, while the girl is in over her head, her captors will also find themselves with more than they can handle when Ui-gang begins tearing the city apart to get her back!

From acclaimed director Choi Jae-hoon and adapted from a popular novel, The Killer is said to be a cool, stylish and fast-paced thriller with incredible action scenes which further cements the elite reputation of South Korean cinema.
