Ready Player Two, Ernest Cline’s highly-anticipated sequel to Ready Player One, is finally here and there are a plethora of brilliant events to celebrate!

Firstly, you can hear the first chapter from the sequel, which takes place just days after our hero, Wade Watts, wins OASIS Founder James Halliday’s contest, being read by none other than actor Will Wheaton himself!

Not only that but you can feel like you’re part of your own VR gaming experience with the launch of a virtual Ready Player Two–themed treasure hunt. Taking place inside seven experiences on the Roblox platform, players who complete the treasure hunt will be awarded virtual goods! The event headlines a virtual Q&A with Cline and Dave Baszucki (the founder and CEO of Roblox) which will stream inside the Ready Player Two Event on 1 December at 10:00 PST / 18:00 GMT (it may even include clues for navigating the treasure hunt). In addition to the Q&A, users can find clues by reading Ready Player Two in advance of the event’s start.

Further to this, exclusive to UK fans, Waterstones will be holding a virtual launch event for the book ‘Ernest Cline In Conversation’ on Wednesday 25 November at 19:30 and you can be part of it! Tickets cost £23, include a copy of Ready Player Two and you can even submit questions for Cline ahead of the event – all taking place via Zoom. Grab your tickets here.

Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline is out now. The Robox event will be taking place on 1 December at 18:00 GMT and the Waterstones event on 25 November at 19.30 GMT.

To celebrate the upcoming release of Ernest Cline’s Ready Player Two on 24 November, we are giving away a collector’s edition of Ready Player One!

Ready Player One is set in a near-future dystopia where people escape the chaos of the real world for an expansive virtual universe, where they can create their own reality.

The book was adapted into Warner Bros.’ international blockbuster feature film, Ready Player One, directed by Steven Spielberg, with the screenplay co-written by Cline – so there’s no wonder the hype for its sequel is reaching boiling point!

In fact, Cline recently participated in this year’s virtual New York Comic Con (Zooming from his garage with his custom DeLorean parked nearby!), revealing key plot points to Wil Wheaton who is the audiobook narrator for both books.
