Elly Conway is the reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, whose idea of bliss is a night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie. But when the plots of Elly’s fictional books—which center on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate—begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past.

Accompanied by Aiden, a cat-allergic spy, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur.

Directed and produced by Matthew Vaughn, from a screenplay by Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman), the movie stars Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World franchise), Sam Rockwell (Moon), Henry Cavill (The Witcher), John Cena (Peacemaker), Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), Dua Lipa (Barbie), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek), Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service), and Samuel L. Jackson (Secret Invasion). Alfie is played by Chip, the real-life cat of supermodel Claudia Vaughn (née Schiffer).

Argylle will be in cinemas on 2 February.

In The Lazarus Project S2, the world locks into a never-ending time loop that will ultimately end with the planet’s complete extinction, which means the Lazarus team must race against time to find a solution before humanity is wiped out forever. Among their number is resolute Lazarus agent, George, who’s been left in disgrace after betraying the organisation in the name of love.

George is determined to redeem himself and win back the trust of his friends, colleagues, and the love of his life. But when he discovers that the cause he’s fighting is more sinister than it appears, George begins to suspect that the only person he can really trust is himself.

Created and written by Joe Barton, the eight-part series stars Pappa Essiedu (I May Destroy You), Anjli Mohindra (The Sarah Jane Adventures), Charly Clive (All My Friends Hate Me), Vinette Robinson (Code 404), Rudi Dharmalingam (Wakefield), Caroline Quentin (Dickensian) and Tom Burke (The Wonder) all reprising their roles.

Also joining the cast in the upcoming second series are Royce Pierreson (The Witcher), Colin Salmon (Resident Evil, Limitless), Safia Oakley-Green (Extraordinary), Lorne MacFayden (Vigil), Zoe Telford (Genius), Sam Troughton (The Ritual) and James Atherton (Hollyoaks).

Director James Wan and Jason Momoa are delving back into the depths for Aquaman sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

In Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.

Pet Sematary: Bloodlines is set in 1969, when a young Jud Crandall has dreams of leaving his hometown of Ludlow, Maine behind, but soon discovers sinister secrets buried within and is forced to confront a dark family history that will forever keep him connected to Ludlow. Banding together, Jud and his childhood friends must fight an ancient evil that has gripped Ludlow since its founding, and once unearthed has the power to destroy everything in its path. 

Directed by Lindsey Anderson Beer, in her directorial debut, with a script written by Beer and Jeff Buhler, the movie stars Jackson White (Tell Me Lies) Forrest Goodluck (The Revenant), Jack Mulhern (Painkiller), Henry Thomas (The Fall of the House of Usher), Natalie Alyn Lind (The Gifted), Isabella Star LaBlanc (True Detective: Night Country), Samantha Mathis (Billions), with Pam Grier (Jackie Brown) and David Duchovny (The Craft: Legacy).

Author Stephen King has already shared his opinion on the adaptation: “In the book, this is the story Jud Crandall tells Louis Creed to try and dissuade him from using the Pet Sematary,” he Tweeted. “The screenplay takes a few liberties, but it’s a fine story. David Duchovny is excellent.

“The secret, as always, is caring about the characters.”

Pet Sematary: Bloodlines will premiere on Saturday 7 October on Paramount+ UK & Ireland
