The team behind resurrecting the Halloween films are back, and this time they have possession on their minds… This Autumn marks exactly 50 years since The Exorcist landed on screens, shocking audiences around the world and now this October sees a new chapter begin with The Exorcist: Believer.

Watch the trailer…

<span data-mce-type=”bookmark” style=”display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;” class=”mce_SELRES_start”>&#65279;</span>

The Exorcist: Believer follows Victor Fielding who, since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, has been raising their daughter, Angela on his own.

But when Angela and her friend Katherine, disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil.

The film stars Ellen Burstyn who, for the first time since the 1973 film, reprises her iconic role as Chris MacNeil, an actress who has been forever altered by what happened to her daughter Regan five decades before.

The film also stars Leslie Odom, Jr. (Hamilton), Lidya Jewett (Good Girls), Olivia Marcum, Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale), Jennifer Nettles (Harriet) and Norbert Leo Butz (Bloodline).

The Exorcist: Believer is directed by David Gordon Green from a screenplay by Peter Sattler (Camp X-Ray) and David Gordon Green, from a story by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills), Danny McBride (Halloween trilogy) and David Gordon Green, based on characters created by William Peter Blatty.

When The Exorcist, based on the best-selling book by William Peter Blatty, was released, it changed the culture forever, obliterating box office records and earning 10 Academy Award® nominations, becoming the first horror film ever nominated for Best Picture.

The Exorcist: Believer will be released in cinemas on Friday 13 October 2023

1. Hocus Pocus: I Put a Spell on You

The Sanderson Sisters (Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker) are back after three hundred years to wreak havoc on Salem. They take a break in the middle of their mayhem to belt out a tune that keeps partygoers dancing till dawn. With resurrected corpses, a cursed black cat, clueless parents, and three kids out to stop the witches, this classic has something spooky for everyone.

2. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: Halloween Feast

If you ever wanted to see a children’s Halloween fantasy brought to life, look no further than this scene in the great hall of Hogwarts. Harry, Ron, and Hermione sit down to a Bootacular feast of tarts, whipped cream-covered pastries, cakes, lollipops, and custards, all lit by a spooky array of candles and floating carved pumpkins. The wizardry wonder is a testament to the child in us all.

3. Halloween: 2018: Street Scene

Michael Myers roams the streets of Haddonfield as children run door to door, wearing costumes and carrying their candy bags. Flickering jack-o-lanterns and creepy decorations play backdrop to unforgettably eerie music while the madman hunts for his next kill. You’ll never look at trick or treating the same way again.

4. Stranger Things: ‘Trick or Treat, Freak’

We’ve all been there—wondering if we’re too old to trick or treat, but when Stranger Things took on that poignant period between childhood and adulthood, it touched everyone. This frightening episode shows us you can beg for candy at any age and still be cool.

5. Practical Magic: Final Scene

A man who loves an Owens woman is doomed to die, or so the family curse goes. When sisters Gilly and Sally suffer heartache, endure kidnapping, and dabble in necromancy, it’s no wonder the townsfolk keep their distance. But in the end, it takes a little magic to break the dreaded curse and win the neighbors’ hearts. The last scene, where the townsfolk join the Owens witches to celebrate Halloween, will make you believe anything is possible.

6. Trick ‘r Treat: Opening Scene

The picture-perfect setting for Halloween is the opening of this thriller/horror set in the fictional town of Warren Valley, Ohio. The mysterious burlap sack-headed, childlike figure of Sam wanders a street decorated with carved pumpkins, cobwebs, and tombstones as trick-or-treaters comb the sidewalks. Reality meets the supernatural in this scary tale of werewolves and crazed killers.

7. ET: Halloween Scene

Wouldn’t you want to bring your alien friend trick or treating? That’s just what Elliot does in this memorable scene from ET. Dressed as a ghost and sent out into a street full of costumed kids, our “phone home” guy is dazed and confused. Gotta love this timeless classic.

8. The Vampire Diaries: ‘Haunted’ Halloween Party

One of the best Halloween high school party scenes with cobwebs draped over lockers, pumpkins, foggy floors, dazzling costumes, and visual effects that would make any AV club pea-green with envy. Set in Mystic Falls, Virginia, a town ripe with supernatural history, the inhabitants aren’t always aware of the vampires in their midst. Still, their teenagers sure know how to get the most out of the spooktacular season with lots of thrills, chills — and death.

9. Euphoria: ‘The Next Episode’

This high school Halloween party is a techno-pop, house trashing event. The students are grittier, the storylines darker, but that doesn’t stop these students from having a good time in colorful costumes no one’s mother ever put together with a glue gun. The Bob Ross outfit is a scene-stealer, and Jules as an angel wins best dressed.

10. Pretty Little Liars: ‘The is a Dark Ride’

Set a Halloween party on a ghost train filled with guests in over-the-top- costumes and dancing to live music by Adam Lambert, and you know something terrible is going to happen. Everyone is in a fight for their lives in this creepy, fun thrill ride.

Have You Seen Me? is out now from Vesuvian.

When David Gordon Green’s Halloween was released back in 2018, starring icon Jamie Lee Curtis, we were of course excited, but a little apprehensive. What would it be like to return to the classic horror franchise 40 years after the original was released?

We needn’t have worried. Halloween was a smash hit earning more than $250 million worldwide, and more importantly, we loved it!

Now, the filmmaking team behind the 2018 hit is back with Halloween Kills and here is the new trailer…

<span data-mce-type=”bookmark” style=”display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;” class=”mce_SELRES_start”>&#xFEFF;</span>

Minutes after Laurie Strode (Curtis), her daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) left masked monster Michael Myers caged and burning in Laurie’s basement, Laurie is rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, believing she finally killed her lifelong tormentor.

But when Michael manages to free himself from Laurie’s trap, his ritual bloodbath resumes. As Laurie fights her pain and prepares to defend herself against him, she inspires all of Haddonfield to rise up against their unstoppable monster.

The Strode women join a group of other survivors of Michael’s first rampage who decide to take matters into their own hands, forming a vigilante mob that sets out to hunt Michael down, once and for all.

Evil dies tonight.

Directed again by David Gordon Green, Halloween Kills is written by Scott Teems (SundanceTV’s Rectify), Danny McBride and David Gordon Green based on characters created by John Carpenter and Debra Hill. The film stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, Will Patton, Thomas Mann and Anthony Michael Hall.

Halloween Kills will be out in cinemas on 15 October.
