Better Call Saul Season 5 Trailer
Hank Schrader is back! The trailer for Better Call Saul Season 5 is an ominously mellow montage, showing, amongst other things, Dean Norris reprising his role as Breaking Bad’s audacious DEA agent brother-in-law of Walter White, and connoisseur of minerals.
The cast and creators of Better Call Saul give context to what we’ve been seeing in the Season 5 trailers in a new featurette (via TV Line), seen just below.
The teaser seen below previews the inevitable decline of Jimmy and Kim’s relationship in the wake of the former’s Saul Goodman metamorphosis.
The first proper trailer, seen below, encourages you to step right up, folks.
In the teaser below, Jimmy/Saul emphasizes the point that lying is best performed “with feeling.”
Jimmy/Saul takes an ominously inauspicious ride in the clip below..
The behind-the-scenes video just below mixes new footage with cast interviews, reiterating the labor of love nature of the series.
For further consumption, you can also check out these “How To” videos featuring various characters from the series. One has Gus Fring showing us showing us (with just the right amount of violent innuendo,) how to properly iron a shirt. The previous videos show Lalo Salamanca making tacos, and Saul himself tying a tie.
Better Call Saul Season 5 Cast
Robert Forster, who passed away back in October, managed to reprise his Breaking Bad role as Ed, a.ka. The Disappearer, for Better Call Saul Season 5. Of course, Forster reprised said role in El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. His return was revealed along with the news that Dean Norris will return as Hank Schrader.
It still remains to be seen whether Bryan Cranston will cameo in the prequel, but with El Camino covering some Walt territory, it’s possible that Cranston has done everything he needs to do in the Breaking Bad universe. Also, we wouldn’t count out another apperance from Micheal McKean’s Chuck via flashback, but this is all mere specualtion at the moment, unfortunately. We’ll have official cast details as soon as they are made available.
Better Call Saul Season 5 Story Details
AMC’s official description of Better Call Saul season 5 reads:
“In season five of the critically acclaimed drama, Better Call Saul, Jimmy McGill’s (Bob Odenkirk) decision to practice law as “Saul Goodman” creates unexpected and profound waves of change throughout Albuquerque’s legal and illegal circles. Kim Wexler finds herself at a crossroads as her connection with Jimmy deepens. Wracked with guilt and regret, Mike Ehrmantraut hits rock bottom. Meanwhile, Nacho Varga tries to survive as Gus Fring’s covert war on the cartel becomes a life-and-death chess match with the mercurial and relentless Lalo Salamanca.”
In an interview with the L.A. Times, Rhea Seehorn, who portrays Jimmy McGill’s love interest Kim Wexler, spoke a little bit about the Season 4 finale and how that will impact the Jimmy/Kim relationship going forward. The entire interview is interesting for Better Call Saul fans, but here’s Seehorn’s words about Kim heading into Season 5:
“That was a complex ending that was fun to play. It’s alarming and then also the fact that she felt scammed. And now she doesn’t really understand what he’s doing with the Saul Goodman thing, but at the same time, they’ve been smart to never make … Kim is not dense. She’s not being snowed. So the gulf between how well they actually know each other has been growing, and that’s sad and alarming.
“It remains to be seen what that full reaction will be. And where is he going with that? Because sometimes people will say, “I just can’t imagine Kim would stay with somebody that would order a hit on someone.” I’m like, “Well, Kim hasn’t seen Breaking Bad.” I can’t play that. [Laughs]”
