God of War director Cory Barlog has seemingly been using his Twitter account to tease some kind of sci-fi project.
This is all a bit strange, but a quick look at Barlog’s Twitter account reveals that he has changed his photo to a picture of the Voyager 1 space satellite, has sent out a strange tweet that just states “END TRANSMISSION,” and has changed his bio to read “….. ….. …. … .. .” That last bit has already been translated via morse code and apparently reads “55HSIE.”
What does that mean? It’s really anyone’s guess, but the SIE part feels like a reference to Sony Interactive Entertainment. That would seem to indicate that this is in reference to a new PlayStation game, but again, most of this is all speculative at this time.
The other strange thing about this tease is that the ending of God of War pretty cleanly set-up a sequel involving the end of the world. Given how successful God of War was, we’d be a little surprised to learn that Barlog’s next game will be a sci-fi project. Considering that we’re nearing the likely reveal and release dates of the PS5, it also feels safe to suggest that Barlog’s next game will likely be a next-gen title.

That being the case, we’d sooner guess that this is either unrelated to gaming or is otherwise a tease for a smaller game (such as a simple VR title). Then again, we suppose that it’s certainly possible that Barlog wants to work on another larger project before diving back into the God of War universe. It just feels like such a project would have been teased in a more official capacity.
Or maybe we’re just really looking forward to the eventual God of War sequel. The original comfortably ranks among the PS4’s best games and is also in the conversation for the best game of this generation.
