It’s been a rough year for Oliver, Felicity, John, and the rest of Team Arrow (what’s left of it, anyway), but the crime-fighting crew will push forward for Arrow season 8. The news was confirmed by The CW at this winter’s Television Critics Association Press Tour.

“This season, we expanded our primetime schedule to six nights with the addition of Sunday — which has been an unqualified success for the network, our affiliates and our advertisers,” CW president Mark Pedowitz said in a statement. “In addition to growing our schedule across the week, we also continue to add more year-round programming.  The early renewal of these signature CW series gives us a head start on laying out the 2019-2020 season, and this is just the beginning,” said Pedowitz.  “These shows provide a strong foundation for our multiplatform programming strategy, and we look forward to building on this with even more returning and new shows as we approach the May upfront.”

Arrow Season 8 Release Date

Arrow season 8 will premiere in Fall 2019. It usually arrives in early to mid-October, often the first opportunity after New York Comic Con. Since Arrow is moving to Tuesdays in the fall, we’re going to pencil in the possible Arrow season 8 premiere date as Tuesday, Oct. 8. We’ll update this with official confirmation as soon as we have it.

Arrow Season 8 Story

What Arrow season 8 will have in store for its heroes is anybody’s guess at the moment, but we do know that, at the very least, the show will feature some sort of lead up to and deal with the aftershocks of this year’s Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event, which promises to shake the Arrowverse to its very core. Life is sure to change for Ollie, especially for an event as famous as DC’s very first Crisis. As some of you know, these sorts of multiverse-spanning crossovers are known to claim lives.

Might the life of Green Arrow be on the chopping block? It’s very possible, especially considering that Arrow Season 8 has been confirmed as the show’s final season. We have more details on what that might mean right here.

Here’s the official synopsis for Arrow season 8.

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the North China Sea. He returned home to Star City, bent on righting the wrongs done by his family and fighting injustice. As the Green Arrow, Oliver successfully saved his city with the help of his team including former soldier John Diggle (David Ramsey), computer-science expert Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), former protégé Roy Harper (Colton Haynes), street-savvy Rene Ramirez (Rick Gonzalez), metahuman Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy), brilliant inventor Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum) and Earth-2 Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy). In the wake of discovering what his future holds, Oliver will find himself pit against his most challenging battle yet, one that will leave the multiverse hanging in the balance. In Arrow’s final season, Oliver Queen is forced to confront the reality of what it means to be a hero.
