Extraordinary: Find out more about Disney+’s upcoming super power comedy

Extraordinary, News, TV

There’s not long to go until the release of Disney+’s original series, Extraordinary, but before then, here’s what we know about the series so far.

First up, check out the trailer…

What is it about?

Ten years ago, everyone over the age of 18 got their superpower. But Jen, a painfully self-aware 25-year-old woman, is still waiting to get hers. She’d take anything at this point. Adrift in a big, confusing world and armed with nothing but a bit of hope, a lot of desperation and her flatmates, Jen begins her journey to find her maybe-superpower. But in doing so, she might discover the joy of being just kind of ok.

Who is it from?

Extraordinary has been written by series creator Emma Moran, a stand-out debut writer with an utterly distinctive voice, and directed by Toby McDonald (Ragdoll), Jennifer Sheridan (Rose: A Love Story) and Nadira Amrani (On The Edge).

It is executive produced by Sally Woodward Gentle, Lee Morris and Charles Dawson for Sid Gentle Films, the production company behind Killing Eve.

Who is in it?

Extraordinary is led by a cast of rising talent, including Máiréad Tyers who plays Jen, Sofia Oxenham who plays Carrie, Bilal Hasna who plays Kash, and Luke Rollason who plays Jizzlord. Additional cast members include Siobhan McSweeney playing Jen’s mum, Mary, Robbie Gee as Jen’s stepdad, Ian, Safia Oakley-Green as Jen’s half-sister, Andy, and Ned Porteous as Luke.

Anything else?

Sure! Why not check out a first-look clip from the series taken from the opening of episode two ‘Magic Bullets’. The clip finds Carrie (Sofia Oxenham) and Kash (Bilal Hasna) believing that putting Jen (Máiréad Tyers) in a stressful situation will bring about her power. When an extra spicy meal fails to provide results, Jen runs into her regular, non-committal hook up, Luke (Ned Porteous) as she tries to remain cool…

The whole series of Extraordinary will be available to stream on Disney+ from 25 January. Watch more videos at the SciFiNow YouTube channel.
