Arguably one of the most shocking revelations from The Mandalorian’s second season was that Star Wars cult favourite character Boba Fett had survived, having been seemingly devoured by the Sarlacc in Return Of The Jedi. Not only that, but the series finale gave us a post-credits scene that revealed a title for the bounty hunter’s very own spin-off in 2021: The Book Of Boba Fett.
Whilst there had been widespread speculation that Fett would take over as the lead in The Mandalorian’s third season (given the open-ended nature of Season Two’s finale), creator Jon Favreau spoke on Good Morning America recently to confirm that this will be far from the case, with a standalone series dropping on Disney+ in December 2021.
It has also been revealed that The Book Of Boba Fett will see the return of The Mandalorian stars Temuera Morrison as the titular bounty hunter and Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand, while Robert Rodriquez will take up executive producer duties alongside Favreau and Dave Filoni.
Following on from the spin-off series, Pedro Pascal will return as the beloved lead in The Mandalorian Season Three. It’ll be interesting to see if Mando goes it alone for a while on a whole new set of bounty hunting adventures, or if they figure out a quick way to bring back Grogu (let’s not kid ourselves, he’ll always be Baby Yoda to us) sooner rather than later…because we all know who the real ‘beloved’ one from flagship show truly is.
