Last seen in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, Colin Farrell returns as the Penguin in a brand new series for HBO Max which is said to be ‘the next chapter in The Batman saga’.

We’ve been given our first real look at the series in a brand new teaser, which you can see here…

The eight-episode series will find the Penguin ready to take advantage of Carmine Falcone’s death to become the new kingpin of Gotham City.

The series is executive produced by Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Colin Farrell, Lauren LeFranc, who writes and serves as showrunner, Craig Zobel, who directs the first three episodes, and Bill Carraro.

Alongside Farrell, the series will star Cristin Milioti (Palm Springs), Rhenzy Feliz (Runaways), Michael Kelly (House Of Cards), Shohreh Aghdashloo (Renfield) and Deirdre O’Connell (Daredevil), with Clancy Brown (The Mortuary Collection) and Michael Zegen (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel).

The teaser comes alongside a flurry of recent announcements by streaming service HBO Max (which is now just called ‘Max’), including a new Harry Potter series.

The Penguin series will be released in 2024 but there’s no word on which service the series will be shown in the UK (seeing as the UK doesn’t yet have HBO Max). However, seeing as previous HBO Max series like The Last Of Us and House Of The Dragon have been shown on Sky and Now TV, there is a possibility it will be shown there. Watch this space!

The Penguin will be released in 2024. Watch more trailers at the SciFiNow YouTube channel.
