Starting a new job is always stressful (particularly when you don’t want one), but when Paul Carpenter arrives at the office of J.W. Wells he has no idea what trouble lies in store. He is about to discover that the apparently respectable establishment now paying his salary is in fact a front for a deeply sinister organisation that has a mighty peculiar agenda. Along with his new colleague Sophie, Paul embarks on an adventure with the help of an enchanted towel to uncover the secrets of this enterprise and reveal what happens at night in these dark forbidden corridors.
Directed by Jeffrey Walker (Lambs of God) from the screenplay adapted by Leon Ford (Griff the Invisible), the movie stars Sam Neill (Jurassic Park), Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained), Patrick Gibson (The OA), Miranda Otto (Lord of the Rings), Chris Pang (Crazy Rich Asians), Jessica De Gouw (Pennyworth), Rachel House (Thor: Ragnarok), Arka Das (Mulan), Damon Herriman (Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood) and newcomer Sophie Wilde (You Don’t Know Me).
The movie is A Jim Henson Company, Story Bridge Films and Sky production, and is produced by Blanca Lista from The Jim Henson Company (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance), and Todd Fellman from Story Bridge Films (Daybreakers).
“It’s very exciting to continue to build our content offering in Original film with such legendary partners as The Jim Henson Company and Story Bridge Films alongside our friends at Arclight Films,” says Julia Stuart, Director of Original Film at Sky.
“The Portable Door is going to be an unmissable adventure with a very British sense of humour that I cannot wait to share with Sky Cinema customers across all our markets.”
