Prisoners Of The Ghostland: Nic Cage is a leather-clad badass in new trailer

Nic Cage is back and he looks Nic Cage-ier than ever in the new trailer for the samurai western action, Prisoners Of The Ghostland. We know we say that a lot, but just look at the trailer, we promise it won’t disappoint…

In the treacherous frontier city of Samurai Town, Prisoners Of The Ghostland follows a ruthless bank robber (Nicolas Cage) who is sprung from jail by wealthy warlord The Governor (Bill Moseley), whose adopted granddaughter Bernice (Sofia Boutella) has gone missing.

The Governor offers the prisoner his freedom in exchange for retrieving the runaway.  Strapped into a leather suit that will self-destruct within five days, the bandit sets off on a journey to find the young woman— and his own path to redemption…

Cage himself calls this “the wildest movie I’ve ever made”, which has got to say a lot from the man who not too long ago starred in Mandy, The Color Out Of Space and most recently, SciFiNow firm favourite Willy’s Wonderland (read our review).

Directed by Sion Sono (Love Exposure, Why Don’t You Play in Hell?) Prisoners Of The Ghostland stars Sofia Boutella (The Mummy), Nick Cassavetes (Face/Off) and Bill Moseley (House of 1000 Corpses), Tak Sakaguchi and Yuzuka Nakaya alongside Cage, and will be having its UK premiere at this year’s FrightFest on 28 August.

Prisoners Of The Ghostland will be released in UK cinemas and on digital platforms on 17 September.
