In a year that has brought nothing but bad news for magazine publishers, we’re delighted to announce SciFiNow+, a new fortnightly digital launch from SciFiNow and The Companion.
SciFiNow+ has been carefully crafted to reflect the prestige format magazine experience, with high-quality covers, world-beating entertainment journalism, news, reviews, analysis, retro throwback features, and interviews, all under the curation of SciFiNow Editor Rachael Harper.
“The print magazine launched in 2007 when there was a clear appetite for the wave of high-quality US shows that were being overlooked by existing film and TV mags,” explains Rachael. “Since then the brand has continued to innovate. With the print magazine on hiatus, SciFiNow+ is the best way to continue that legacy whilst better reflecting the way that our global audience consume the books, comics, movies and TV series that they love.”
SciFiNow+ Issue 1 is released 15 December and leads with exclusive coverage of the eagerly anticipated and much-delayed Wonder Woman 1984, including an interview with director Patty Jenkins as well as author interviews, news, reviews and a Flashback to The Outer Limits.
Unlike the print magazine which was released every four weeks, SciFiNow+ will be released fortnightly. This change in frequency will allow for closer coverage of the streaming shows and movies that have come to dominate lives with the onset of Covid-19, allowing the magazine content to shape the debate around shows like The Mandalorian, The Expanse and Star Trek: Discovery.
“With twice as many coveted SciFiNow issues a year, SciFiNow+ has greater freedom to champion emerging SF authors and independent films,” Rachael continues. “Also, as a fortnightly digital magazine free from advertising constraints, SciFiNow+ has no barriers when it comes to telling the stories that our readers are the most passionate about.”
SciFiNow+ will be released within The Companion, a subscription-based app and website offering clickbait-free original content for fandoms which have been underserved by mainstream entertainment media. Existing Companion members will have access to SciFiNow+, whilst SciFiNow readers will have access to The Companion’s daily deep-dives, interviews, podcasts, and star-studded video AMAs. The list of recent contributors to The Companion includes Stargate SG-1, Atlantis, and Universe co-creator Brad Wright, and SF novelist Tessa B. Dick, wife of the late Philip K. Dick and uncredited co-writer of A Scanner Darkly.
Access to SciFiNow+ and The Companion is $6.99 monthly or $69.99 for a year. A 40% discount is available using the code ‘SciFiNow40’ for a limited time only. Click here to subscribe.
