Marking the beginning of the Burning Kingdoms trilogy — a sweeping and powerful epic in which a princess and a priestess will challenge their fates in order to rewrite the future of an empire – The Jasmine Throne is the latest novel by award-winning author Tasha Suri and we’re delighted to reveal its cover!
Designed by Lauren Panepinto and with an illustration by Micah Epstein (@micahepsteinart) we spoke to Tasha about this lush cover for her latest novel: “There’s so much I love about the cover of The Jasmine Throne: the gorgeous art by Micah Epstein, the rich and fiery colours, the flowers and subtle fierceness of the design. It’s also still so rare to see an epic fantasy novel cover that places a South Asian woman front and centre, so I’m beyond thrilled that The Jasmine Throne’s cover does exactly that!”
The Jasmine Throne tells the story Malini – ecxiled by her despotic brother when he claimed their father’s kingdom, Malini spends her days trapped in the Hirana: an ancient, cliffside temple that was once the source of the magical deathless waters, but is now little more than a decaying ruin.
A servant in the regent’s household, Priya makes the treacherous climb to the Hirana every night to clean Malini’s chambers. She is happy to play the role of a drudge so long as it keeps anyone from discovering the dangerous secret of her past.
But when Malini accidentally bears witness to Priya’s true nature, everything changes.
One is a vengeful princess seeking to steal a throne. The other is a powerful priestess seeking to save her family. Their destinies—and their hearts — will become irrevocably tangled. And together, they will set an empire ablaze.
The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri is out on 10 June 2021 for £8.99 in paperback.
