The Mandalorian season 2 is turning out to have quite the star-studded cast, especially when it comes to actors bringing famous Star Wars characters to the live-action TV series. The latest casting comes from Slashfilm, which reports that Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) will reprise her role as Mandalorian leader Bo-Katan Kryze, the character she previously voiced in The Clone Wars and Rebels animated series.

While neither Disney or Lucasfilm has confirmed the news as of yet, Slashfilm previously broke the news that Rosario Dawson is set to play fan-favorite hero Ahsoka Tano in the second season. But take the news with a grain of salt for now if you must.
Bo-Katan’s return on the show makes a lot of sense. The last time we saw the Mandalorian warrior was in the Rebels season 4 episode “Heroes of Mandalore.” After toppling an Imperial government on Mandalore, Bo-Katan became Mand’alor, the leader of the Mandalorian clans on the planet. By the time of The Mandalorian, we know that the people on Mandalore were wiped out in a great purge by the Empire, leaving the survivors scattered across the galaxy. It’s the reason why most Mandalorians live in hiding underground and why Din Djarin’s faction was eradicated at the end of the first season by the Empire.
But we never saw what happened to Bo-Katan herself. As Mand’alor, she would have led her people against the Imperial siege. The Mandalorian also revealed that, not only did she lose, but she lost the Darksaber, the ceremonial weapon of a Mand’alor, in the process. On the live-action show, we see that it’s now the evil Moff Gideon who carries the sword.
