PUBG creator, and the original PlayerUnknown, Brendan Greene has revealed the first trailer for his next project, Prologue.
The trailer for Prologue honestly doesn’t give us much to work with. It starts with a static look at a forest in the middle of a storm. We soon see the camera move in a manner similar to how players typically view their surroundings in a first-person game. The general vibe we get from the whole thing is that it’s a tech demo for a first-person title that will likely emphasize survival elements.
Some of those suspicions are seemingly confirmed by a brief summary posted on the Prolouge website which describes the title as an “exploration of new technologies and gameplay” designed to “give players unique and memorable experiences, each and every time they play.”
Again, we’re not entirely sure what to make of that (and that does seem to be the point), but this all suggests that Prologue is in the very early stages of development and that what we see in the trailer is mostly a technological proof of concept for what the game could eventually become. Some are suggesting that Prologue could somehow directly be related to PUBG, but given some of Greene’s comments about stepping away from that title, we tend to think this might be something else entirely.

Regardless, Greene deserves some credit for helping to create the modern battle royale genre and really kick things off with the release of PUBG. We’re at least interested in seeing what he comes up with next even if we really have no idea what to make of what seems to be a very early look at his next project.
Prologue has no confirmed release date, but the website does mention that players are able to sign up for early access, so we might hear more about this project sometime in the near future.
