Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series is more than just one of the most popular fantasy stories of the literary world, it has influenced an entire generation of fantasy authors to tell stories of their own. With Amazon starting production on a Wheel of Time series adaptation and Tor poised to release Warrior of the Altaii, Jordan’s never-before-published first novel, the late author’s influence on speculative fiction culture carries on long after his death.
At this weekend’s New York Comic Con, Tor Books presented a Jordan-centric video during their spotlight panel. The featurette includes authors George R.R. Martin, Brent Weeks, Peter V. Brett, Patrick Rothfuss, Guy Gavriel Kay, Jason Denzel, Brandon Sanderson (The Stormlight Archive), Marie Brennan (Memoirs of Lady Trent series), Clint McElroy (The Adventure Zone), and Tochi Onyebuchi (Riot Baby) reflecting on the legacy of Robert Jordan’s books.
Den of Geek is lucky to exclusively reveal the video online for the first time. Check it out…
The Wheel of Time series has been translated into 27 languages and has 40 million copies in print.

Jordan wrote The Warrior of the Altaii before he published The Wheel of Time — Tor Books Founder Tom Doherty actually bought it before he founded the speculative fiction publisher. However, Jordan wanted to finish some other works—including The Wheel of Time—before returning to the manuscript.
“I was amazed at the foreshadowing of The Wheel of Time,” said Harriet McDougal, Jordan’s editor and wife, about rereading The Warrior of the Altaii now. ”You will find many hints of what is to come. I think you’ll have fun finding them as you read this brand new Robert Jordan – a fine wine that has reached its perfect maturity.”
Check out the synopsis for Warrior of the Altaii:
