Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is currently in the middle of its run of DLC, which is an exciting guessing game because you never know who’s joining the fight next. They can be from any game! So far we’ve already seen the Piranha Plant from Super Mario Bros., Joker from Persona, Hero from Dragon Quest, and Banjo-Kazooie (released today, by the way!).
The latest character to join the game is Terry Bogard, the main character from the Fatal Fury series! Watch the announcement trailer below:
Okay! The Legendary Wolf himself from the Fatal Fury series, Terry Bogard, will be joining the Super #SmashBrosUltimate roster as DLC fighter 4. Look forward to his release this November. pic.twitter.com/lUntbo45Vj

In a scene that recalls the ’90s King of Fighters intro movie, we see the invitation to Smash escape the grasp of Kyo Kusanagi, Ryo Sakazaki, Andy Bogard, Joe Higashi, Geese Howard, Nakoruru, and Iori Yagami. Only then does it get picked up by the hero of South Town, Terry Bogard.
OKAY!!

Sadly, no in-game footage was shown in the video, but we do know that he’ll be available as early as November. Oh, and on top of that, even though there’s only one more DLC spot left in this upcoming DLC character pack, Nintendo revealed its already working on the next batch of characters.
Come onnnnnn, Scorpion!
So who is Terry Bogard? Originally appearing in 1991, Terry was the main hero of the Fatal Fury fighting game series. It’s your basic martial arts backstory. Villain kills father in front of son, son grows up pissed off, son gets revenge on villain. Not only were there a handful of Fatal Fury games (many are on the Switch), but also a trilogy of anime movies back in the day. He has the same kind of traveling hobo deal as Ryu from Street Fighter, but with more of a smile on his face as he constantly tosses his trademark hat in victory.
Fatal Fury spun-off into the SNK crossover 3-on-3 fighting game King of Fighters. Terry joined in, flanked by his brother Andy and best friend Joe most of the time. He was more of a supporting character in this series, hanging back while the story focused on the likes of Kyo, Iori, K’, Ash Crimson, and so on.

As for crossovers, there were various Capcom/SNK collaborations, which featured Terry duking it out with the cast of Street Fighter (including Ken handing over Terry’s hat before the fight). More recently, he appeared as a guest character in Arika’s EX Fighting Layer and also SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy. That last one shouldn’t sound like such a big deal since it’s an SNK game, but it’s also a fetishy game with an all-female cast, meaning “Terry suddenly with boobs” was tossed in there.
Perhaps this means that we’ll be seeing King of Fighters XV on the Switch once that’s out.
