Popular streamer Ninja has caused the quite the stir by joining World of Warcraft Classic and playing World of Warcraft for the first time.
Twitch streamer TimTheTatMan and fellow streamer members of his WoW guild spoke to Tyler “Ninja” Blevins this morning and convinced him to hop on their WoW server after much speculation regarding whether or not the world’s most popular Fortnite player would enjoy the old-school MMO. Apparently, Tim received quite a few donations in order to “roll” a new character and try to convince Ninja to join the game. So how is Ninja liking WoW? Well…
It sounds like Ninja was previously a Final Fantasy XI player, so his friends speculated that he’d actually enjoy what is basically the 2004 version of WoW. That does seem to be the case as Ninja is having fun with his initial time as a Tauren Druid fighting for the horde, fighting for love. He’s currently using the name “Ninjathewise,” as you can see in the above screenshot taken moments after he first entered the game.
Speaking of which, it was a little crazy when Ninja first joined the server. The population spiked rapidly, and Ninja soon had a small army of players following him around trying to help him complete quests. He’s seemingly had to ask players to stop helping him so directly as it affects how much experience he receives (and the general experience of playing the game), but that’s a tricky proposition. Even if some players agree to not help him, the fact that WoW Classic works off a “layering” system which effects which players occupy certain spaces on each server at certain times, different players could be around Ninja at different times.

So will Ninja stop playing Fortnite over on Mixer and become a WoW streamer? We highly doubt that, but it’s worth noting at the moment that Ninja isn’t streaming on his Mixer channel at the moment and hasn’t revealed whether he intends to do so. We don’t imagine it would violate any terms of his Mixer agreement or anything, but it remains to be seen whether the game will hold his interest or capture the attention of his viewers.
In any case, we’re certainly enjoying WoW Classic for its incredible quests, nostalgic vibes, and the feeling of re-living one of the most important PC games ever made.
