Riverdale Season 4 is happening!

This is great news for fans of quirky, unpredictable, and always entertaining TV. Perhaps more so than any other show on TV, Riverdale is very comfortable in its own skin; season three was a weird and wonderful experience, with episodes like “The Midnight Club” flashback installment and the noir experiment pushing the creative parameters of the show… and, wonderfully, sticking the landing each time.

The series’ stature only grew when the series hit Netflix after season one, leading to a ratings bump in season two and continuing to find new fans through streaming and live watching.

Riverdale Season 4 Plot

At Riverdale‘s SDCC 2019 panel, producers revealed some plot points that we’ll see in season 4. For starters, they’re not going to let The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina have all the fun. Riverdale will be getting its own Halloween special this year. You can read more about that—and this season’s musical episode—here.

Also on the docket is Jughead moving to a new prep school, Archie starting a band (called “The Archies” naturally), and Veronica and Cheryl will start a maple syryp rum-running business.

The series has reinvented itself each season — learning from the mistakes it made along the way (i.e. letting the Black Hood storyline drag on so long) and generally being unafraid to lean into weird storylines. No doubt Charles will play a huge role in Season 4, as he not only investigates The Farm and Edgar Evernever, but also makes things complicated in the Cooper and Jones families.
