Hearthstone: Saviors of Uldum Reno Jackson Card Revealed

Games

Reno Jackson, one of Hearthstone‘s most popular cards/characters ever, return in the game’s upcoming Saviors of Uldum expansion

As revealed at SDCC 2019, Reno Jackson will be a Mage legendary card that cost six mana, has four attack, six health, and a Battlecry effect that reads “If your deck has no duplicates, deal 10 damage randomly split among all enemy minions.” The 4/6 stat line and six mana cost are both throwbacks to Reno Jackson’s original card (as is the “if your deck has no duplicates” requirement), but the Hearthstone team explains why Reno is a Mage exclusive card this time around.

Reno really matches up with the artifact he’s found,” said Game Designer Alec Dawson in an interview with IGN. “We think of Reno as a character who, whatever he’s doing, whatever artifact he has in his hand, that’s his identity in a sense. He’s picked up this Gatling wand so now, of course, he’s this fantastical mage.”

The effect is somewhat powerful, but I’d be lying if I told you it seems like this version of Reno is going to be nearly as popular or game-changing as the original version (which fully healed your hero upon play if you had no duplicates in your deck). Interestingly, IGN also posted some of the other versions of this card that Blizzard is considering, and each of them feels a little more thematically interesting than the final design.

Reno is also joined by his fellow League of Explorers members who return to the game as class-specific legendary cards with effects that require your deck to have no duplicate cards. Elise is a Druid card that duplicates your had, Sir Finley gives Paladins an upgraded hero power, and Brann summons King Krush.

This has certainly been a busy time for Hearthstone as the wait between expansions has seen an unusual influx of content that includes buffed cards, major events, and even the addition of brand-new cards. It’s been enough to tide fans over until Saviors of Uldum releases on August 6.
