If you’re a lover not a fighter, but you’d like to check out Cyberpunk 2077, fear not: it’s been confirmed that it will be possible to complete pacifist playthroughs of the upcoming Keanu Reeves-starring game from CD Projekt Red.
This comes as something of a surprise, especially when you consider that the player-character is a mercenary and the game’s trailers have been pretty violent thus far. Also, this new revelation goes against what the developers at CD Projekt Red had previously suggested. At last year’s E3, for instance, quest designer Patrick Mills told Game Informer that “there are not non-violent solutions to all problems” in the game.
Jump forward to 2019, though, and the tune coming out of CD Projekt Red seems to have a changed. Game Informer went hands-on with Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 2019 and a representative from CD Projekt Red confirmed that “players can now complete pacifist runs of Cyberpunk 2077.”

This doesn’t mean that the violent options are being taken out, of course, but it is nice to know that players who love a challenge or loathe bloodshed will now have an option that caters to them in Cyberpunk 2077.
This isn’t the biggest Cyberpunk 2077 news to come out of E3 2019, of course. That would be the casting of Keanu Reeves as a rockstar-turned-revolutionary named Johnny Silverhand. You can learn more about that character here. Reeves appeared at E3 2019 to hype up the game, praising its “vast open world with a branching storyline”, and “how you’d be able to customize your character through in-game choices.” He said that walking through the game’s futuristic city is going to “breathtaking.”
The release date for Cyberpunk 2077 has been set for April 16th, 2020, with the game set for release on PS4, Xbox One and PC. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
