However, this new half-hour animated offering is a completely different type of show if the trailer is any indication.

Here’s what we have on Undone so far…

Undone Cast

In addition to Rosa Salazar (Alita: Battle Angel), who will play the main character of the series, Alma, the series will feature Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) as Jacob, who knows a little bit about what Alma is going through.

The series will also feature the voices and likenesses of Angelique Cabral (Life in Pieces) as Becca and Constance Marie (Switched at Birth) as Camila. Although little is known about these characters, you can catch glimpses of them in the trailer above.

Undone Story

Here’s the brief-but-fascinating synopsis for the new sci-fi series:

Undone is a half-hour animated dramedy that explores the elastic nature of reality through its central character, Alma, slated to be played by Rosa Salazar. After getting into a near fatal car accident, Alma discovers she has a new relationship with time and uses this ability to find out the truth about her father’s death.

Undone is set to be produced by Michael Eisner’s Tornante Company and fellow BoJack stalwarts Noel Bright and Steven A. Cohen, but interestingly, we note, Tommy Pallota will be Executive Producing alongside Bob-Waksberg and Purdy. Pollota, who has a background in both philosophy and experimental animation styles, worked with Richard Linklater to bring his vision for animated rotoscope oddities Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly to life. Critically-acclaimed Dutch artist Hisko Hulsing (Montage Of Heck) is also on board for this one, overseeing the production design with a Netherlands-based animation team.

“We’re delighted to greenlight our first animated half hour series,” said Sharon Yguado, Head of Scripted Series at Amazon Studios, in a statement. “Kate and Raphael are dynamic and creative forces, and I know they will create an amazing series for us. I can’t wait for our customers to see it in 2019.”

“We are grateful to Amazon Studios for the opportunity to tell Alma’s story and follow her as she seeks to find a deeper meaning to her existence,” said Purdy, with Bob-Waksberg adding, “Hisko’s beautiful artwork and masterful use of light and colour will create a look never seen before on a television show that will make audiences lose their minds.”

You can bet we’ll bring you more on this intriguing new thing as we get it.
